There’s no official or accepted name for the Korean Green Tea picked in summer. The producer, Master Ha Il-Nam, personally calls this Ip-Cha, “Leaf-Tea.” Organically grown from semi-wild Korean tea bushes found growing in bamboo forests. The bushes are carefully transplanted and grown together for easier harvesting. Korean green tea has a unique character; some say it has part Chinese and part Japanese hints but it is still very much its own. This summer tea is not ujeon (the top grade of Korean green tea), but it’s far from dull. Bold, fragrant, and long lasting, Ip-Cha is an affordable everyday tea that won’t disappoint and unique enough to be a special gift.
